Clark Nesbit

Private Clark Nesbit wrote a number of letters to his family in Cañon City but only one he wrote, dated Oct. 31 and Nov. 3, 1918, mentions his division's involvement in the war. Nesbit was with the 59th Infantry, 8th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division in the intelligence section. He fought in the Aisne-Marne Offensive (July 18 - Aug.6), St. Mihiel Offensive (Sept. 12 - 14), and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive (Sept. 26 - Oct. 22). He experienced a total of 50 days of shell fire and records suggest Nesbit suffered from shell shock after returning home, which affected him for the rest of his life.
