Activities

Cañon City Scavenger Hunt

Look around the city and see if you can find something for each item on the list!   Possible locations have been provided if you’re not sure where to start. 

Museum Activities (Inside and Out)

These two activities focus on the Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center. The first activity has questions that can be answered on the grounds of the museum and can be completed even when the museum is closed. The other activity is a scavenger hunt that can be completed inside the museum. 

Bridge Activity 
This activity is an introduction to different types of bridges. Match the type of bridge to the location in which it should be built. 

Quilting Patterns Activity

This activity provides a short history of quilting and introduces a few patterns. Mix and match shapes to create your own quilting pattern. 

Stegosaurus Puzzle Activity 
This activity has bones of the stegosaurus that can be cut out and fit to the outline. There are also facts and discussion questions provided. 

Building Bridges Activity

This activity focuses on building bridges out of paper. The goal is to create the strongest bridge possible out of paper. 

Main Street Architecture

This activity introduces styles of architecture on Main Street in Cañon City. Take a walk down Main Street, (in person or virtually!) and learn about the unique buildings that make up historic Main Street.  

The Rudd House

These activities focus on the historic Rudd House, located behind the museum. Designed for early elementary school age, the activities introduce the Rudd family and elements of the historic structure.

Historic Fashions

This activity introduces how fashion has changed through the decades. Match the fashion to the decade, then create your own design! 

Getting to the Core of Fremont County’s Apple Industry

This activity guide includes history of Fremont County’s Apple industry and a variety of activities using apples. Activities include a science project and a craft. Sink your teeth into history!
